Well it is now April 2022. we are all vaccinated and avoiding covid. I did an on line freemotion quilting class last year. Here is the  wall hanging I made after it. My quilting has improved.

This was quilted on my domestic Janome 8900.

The quilt is a record of the different motifs I learnt on the course. All quilted on my domestic machine.

I have to thank Holly Ann Knight of  String

&Story.com https://www.stringandstory.com/

This course really worked for me.

New York Beauty

I have been doing a class with Juliet Fitness on the New York Beauty Block. Juliet is a fun teacher and with her help and handy hints has make this block seem easlier than it looks. This is my blocks very colourful. I have enjoyed doing these blocks. I am not sure if this is it or I will add some more block.

It is a wet day here so

looks like a good day for catching up on some of the blocks for the Splendid Sampler as I am way behind.

Crumb block UFO Finish

Well it is finished. I think I started making these blocks back in 2010. I blogged about them back in 2011 Crumb blocks . Not knowing how to set these blocks. I found that I had to sash them as there was too much fabric to stitch without the sashing. I freemotion quilted on my Janome 8900 memorycraft machine. I haven't named it yet and I think I will leave it draped on a chair for the moment.

Well the community quilt is finished and donated to the Thames Community along with several others. I think to date my quilting group has donated about 21 quilts and there are still some more to be finished.

I am a bit behind with my blocks in the Splendid Sampler quilt but these are the latest ones I have managed to do.
The weather here has been horrid raining everyday but then it is winter so it is what we should expect. I off to Taupo on wednesday to play golf with some friends from Patea. A 2 day teams competition so that will be a lovely catchup. Just hoping the weather is kind to us as it can be very cold in Taupo and the weather report is for snow in the mountains.

More Splendid Sampler blocks

More blocks have been made and I am keeping not to far behind. I will just do them at my own pace. We are up to block 32 now.

It was quilting on wednesday. A great bunch of ladies. Lots of chatter and laughter I really enjoy going along. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. I had a good day. Made this selvage edge block. Also a few Half square triangle blocks for my split nine patch quilt which is slowly being made using the blocks as leader and ends. Surprising how fast they are mounting up. I have  63 made now, I think I will need 168.

Bonus Block The Splendid Sampler.

I have made one of the bonus blocks. I came accross this bright fabric in my stash so thought it would make a nice bright block. The other block (the dresden plate) is number 26. It has been raining here for most of the week so is very wet under foot. If you are visiting thanks for looking.

Had a bad day in the kitchen today. broke the glass plate out of the microwave so it is down to the secondhand shop to see if I can get another one and then the apple pie I was cooking for dinner overflowed and burnt to the bottom of the oven yak.

Community Quilt

Well it was community quilt day on Wednesday with my quilting group. I did the sewing for a quilt Mary was designing with a scrappy piece of dolphin & alphabet fabric. It turned out really nice sorry I don't have a photo of it and Mary has taken it home to quilt. I took this top home and have quilted it now just need to put a binding on it.

It will keep someone in need warm. This the last machine quilting with my Janome as I hope to sell it and buy a new one.

The Splendid Sampler

I have joined Pat Sloan & Jane Davidson's  100, 6inch blocks quilt along. You can visit it here.  http://www.thesplendidsampler.com  . There are 2 new blocks released each week. This is my progress so far. We are up to block 28 and there are also some bonus blocks. Some of these blocks are really challenging and I sometimes wonder if I am mad trying to do this but it is rewarding to see the end result.

The first 12 blocks.

.

The second 12 blocks.

I am about 4 blocks behind.I have started some of them and am finding the paper piecing ones quite challenging however I am getting them finished eventually.

Waxeye

This little waxeye knocked himself out on the window at my place. He was sitting stunned on the deck so I picked him up. He sat in my hand for a couple of minutes so I took this photo of him. Not very good as my phone camera is still no working properly.

GD Giesha Girl Quilt

Well I am entering this quilt in Amy's Quilt festival. It is my orginal design and I freemotion quilted on my home sewing machine. Inspiration came from the giesha girl fabric and other Japanese fabric that I had in my stash. I hope you like it my GD likes it. It is hers and I have been making it for a few years, got a bit stuck with the design as well as moving house in between time. Thanks Amy for giving me the opportunity to show this quilt and for us to see so many other quilts by like minded people.

Mr & Mrs Bunny

Well aren't these just so cute. They come from Jim's Aunties stash. She passed away 6 years again. She used to work at Cornish's in Wanganui. I can't remember how many years it is since that shop closed down. The label was on the fabric. Well that is another piece of fabric used and I have now given them to my new grand daughter who was born on the 21st of March 2015. She is doing well. Her 2 older brother just love throwing these bunnies around.

Roof On

We have the roof on as you can see. The timber should dry out nicely over the summer months.
The left hand gap that you can see will be a ranchslider out onto a deck when it is all finished. Next is the kitchen window.  We have had more metal put down on the drive way and it hasn't rained here for a couple of weeks so not so much mud around. This should have been posted back in September.
