Extension finished

This post is for Angie. The finished extension. My new kitchen I am very spoilt. We had about 35 people here for lunch after the wedding it is lovely to be able to entertain so many people without it being a squash. I forgot I hadn't shown it in my blog. It is lovely and warm with all the batts & doubleglazing something that has just become compulsory in NZ. Winter has arrived here we had our first frost this morning.

Above is DGD flowergirl looking beautiful with GD this is the lounge end of the extension.

I would like to thank all for visiting. Hope you are having as much fun, as I am visiting the many blogs and gorgeous quilts. Big thank you to Amy for organising the Quilt Festival. My first time.

Stella"s Where's Mine Quilt

I would like to share this quilt with you. I made this for my granddaughter. I just love it. It was a quilting journey for me as I made it up as I went along. I did try to use a graph book to plan the placement of the block. It is nice when I go to my daughters place and see the quilt is being used everyday. I made her brother quilt for his birthday and the day I gave it to him. She said where's mine so that is how it got it's name.

Another Quilt Top finished.

Here is a quilt top finished. I have made this one for my great neice. In an earlier post I showed the Ohio Stars that are in the border. That was about 18 months ago so it has been awhile in the making. The rail fence blocks in the border are made of flannette fabric used to make pjs in the 60's. This fabric was off cuts from the sewing factory my brother & sister in law worked in before they were married. ( My great nieces' grandparents). Another one ready for quilting.

I was given a book for mothers day (The Hand That First Held Mind, By Maggie O'Farrell). I have finished reading it already so I can recommend it as a good read.

Halloween Quilt

Yesterday was quilting club day. So I took the halloween quilt along to pin ready for quilting. They have large tables to pin the quilts on. much easier than kneeling on the floor. Now all I have to do is quilt it. I'm not sure how I'm going to do that yet. Any suggestion will be greatfully received. Sorry the quality of the photo isn't very good.
This is the row by row quilt that we made last year.
The other ladies in my club who made the other rows did marvellous job.

Blocks from the past.

Thought you might like to see blocks DH's Aunt made in the 1980's. I hope I can convince someone else to finish this project as I have enough ufo's of my own. The fabric is velvet curtain samples.

Do you like my stain glass windows wall hanging? I have it already to hand quilt while I am up babysitting for the school hols. The other photo is a small block that I am going to hand quilt also.
I couldn't decide which way to put the green strip. I think like the first photo best. The block is only 8" x 7" so with the green stripe on the outer edge makes the quilt look bigger.

Wedding Day

Well I haven't posted for a while been busy helping finish the extension. At last it is finished, at last I have a kitchen again. Just realized I don't have a photo of it completely finished. Lots of half finished photos so I will post that later.

It was my youngest daughters wedding on Saturday.
Here is pictures of the happy couple cutting the wedding cake. It was a delicious chocolate mud cake that we eat for dessert with fresh berries and cream. Now that the wedding is over I may be able to get some quilting done.!!!!

We had wonderful weather on the day and all went to plan. So well done to the bride for being so organised.
