Going batts

We are going batts. This is what it looks like with all the insulation in the walls. Note the windows and doors are in also. All double glazed.

Building creates a lot of mess & rubbish everywhere. Oh well I guess it will all get cleaned up. In the meantime there is no time for quilting at the moment.

A busy Weekend

Thanks to the help of my brother Ian we have the roof on the extension. Saturday saw the roof on the deck. We have some of decking down this makes it much easier to work from. The rest can be put down after the cladding is on. Sunday & Monday was spent putting the rest of the roof on.
And to day it is raining again. I still have to take photos of all the roof on.
On the quilting front I have sewn the rows of the halloween quilt together now I just have to put a boarder on it.

Row by Row

If you would like to see the row by row quilts have a look at the Cotton on Quilters website they are all there. http://cottonon.blogspot.com It also shows the round robin Quilts that some of the other member made. I didn't feel up to doing that. I imagined myself getting to the last round and running out of time to get it done. Maybe I will challenge myself another time.

Progress on the building just wish it would stop raining we seem to have had rain everyday for the last couple of weeks hope we can get the roof on next week. I had better go and do some more. You can see what will be the deck now.

Row by Row

Well yesterday at my quilting club our row by row quilts were returned to us. What a fabulous job everyone did. There are going to be some beautiful quilts when they are complete. I was absolutely thrilled with mine. I will show it when I have finished it. Here are photos of the 5 rows I did for other peoples quilts.

New extension.

New extension on the way. New kitchen, dinning room lounge with a lovely big deck for indoor outdoor flow.

Community Quilt

I've been doing the row by row quilt, a row each month so I can't show you that. I have made a quilt for a little 6 year old (well just the top for now I have until October to finish it). This is a community quilt. My quilting club that I belong to makes community quilts every 2 years so here is a photo of my contribution.

Bias Binding

I have been making 1 1\4" bias binding for my eyemasks. This takes a while but once it is done it lasts a couple of years. Made from a metre of material I suppose I get about 40 mtrs of binding. This is the website for the instructions for continuous bias binding.

Above is a photo with the cutting lines. And a view of how to iron the folds using pins.

Were has the month gone. I have finished Henry's quilt labeled and a hanging sleeve on it too : ). I gave it to him last week. So it can go on the wall. The last time I saw it his baby sister was using it for a blanket for her doll. Hey at least it is being loved and used.

Henry's art quilt

My grandson drew this picture in 2007 when he was 9. I told him I would use the picture as a guide to make a wall quilt for him it has taken me awhile but today I managed to pin it together so I can start to do the quilting. I am thinking of quilting leaves on it. I will try free motion quilting.

My ohio star quilt is not going so well the flannel is stretching so I have to unpick and I don't like unpicking.

Flag

I haven't been doing much quilting but I have been sewing. Here is a photo of the golf clubs new flag. I have been sewing the emblem on to it. It is all finished now just in time for the Masters Games. Sorry about the flag looking backwards but I had to take the photo with my computer camera as the digital camera was away with DH.  The emblem is on both sides of the flag. So I had to sew both pieces on at the same time. I only had to unpick one of the white stars as I hadn't position the underneath piece of fabric correctly. Glad it was the only one as each pieces is satin stitched on. I am not very patient with unpicking.

No idle hands between Xmas & New year. Here is the deck Jim built at no 1 sons house. Then the day after new year we were helping with hay making at no1 daughters home. A new experience I have never done haymaking before. Must be time I did some quilting!!!!  What is that??
